A wooden mouse carved into an altar rail in Chester Cathedral has sprung to life once again, and embarking on a brand new escapade with an all new friend.
The young at heart may recall last Christmas when a wooden mouse came to life, through literature, and set upon an adventure around the cathedral in a children’s book called ‘Awesome Anselm.’
Now, Anselm has returned once again in a new book entitled ‘Awesome Anselm and the Elephant’s Hooves’ written by acting dean of Chester Cathedral Jane Brooke.
The second Anselm book has been fully illustrated by artist Patricia Faraday.
The book reads: “In the silent, moonlit cathedral, the little carved brown mouse went ‘Atishoo, atishoo, atishoo.’
“His adventures continue when he and the pig and the griffin meet the elephant with horse’s hooves.”
Awesome Anselm and the Elephant’s Hooves is a book for 3-6 year olds, and is on sale now via the Cathedral gift shop.
