February half-term activities at the British Motor Museum

Bosses at the British Motor Museum are planning a jam-packed week of activities during the school half-term holidays, running 14-22 February 2026.

Visitors can learn about how design and technology help shape the world in exciting and interactive ways – including science shows, techie tours and hands-on activities.

“Design and technology have always been fundamental to the incredible cars that make up Britain’s motoring history,” said learning officer Emma Rawlinson.

“The museum has so much on offer this half-term, enabling children to learn all about car design and technology in a fun and engaging way.”

The museum has renewed its collaboration with coding workshop specialists Fuze, offering the opportunity to explore the basics of coding using a Nintendo Switch to create a car-themed game.

The activity (which takes place from Monday to Friday) involves selecting a vehicle from different 3D models and then controlling it on a race track.

Children will be encouraged to change the vehicle and its features to alter its handling and performance.

The car can be changed into any 3D object – a chicken, a dinosaur, or even a piece of cake.

Families can also watch Professor Pickle and Doctor Pumpkin performing mind-blowing experiments in their Design Techsplosion science shows, running 17-20 February.

At the weekends, visitors can join the museum’s resident designers for a Techie Family Tour, delving deeper into the collections and discovering all types of technology.

There are also exhibitions and a family trail exploring the sounds and songs of the motor car, with a journey of discovery around the museum using touch, sight, hearing and smell.

As well as this, children can make a Lego car to be donated to a local community group.

The museum has delivered more than 500 “brick bank” bags since the scheme launched in November 2024.

Museum entry costs:

£18 for adults if booked in advance or £21 on the day

£16 for concessions if booked in advance or £19 on the day

£9 for children (5-16 years) if booked in advance or £10 on the day

Children under 5 enter free of charge
