Sunday 11th November 2018 (afternoon)

The Service of Remembrance in Alderley Edge, to be held at St Philip & St James Church, will be preceded by a parade and wreath laying ceremony at the war memorial on Ryleys Lane.

Parade: the parade will assemble at 2.15pm outside the Festival Hall on Talbot Road and will commence under the supervision of the parade marshall at 2.30pm.

Parade route: Talbot Road > Moss Lane > Trafford Road > Chapel Road > London Road > Ryleys Lane

Parade order: Band, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, Royal British Legion, Ward Councillor, Parish Councillors, Clergy, British Red Cross, Royal Voluntary Service, Guides, Scouts, Brownies Cubs, Wilmslow Lions, Police

Wreath laying ceremony: the parade will form two adjacent columns on arrival at the war memorial, whereupon the wreath layers and standard bearers will form a single line at the front of the parade group. The side drummer will take post alongside the parade marshall.

On completion of prayers, the standards will be lowered to a drum roll and the wreaths laid. The parade will then proceed to the church, led by the Royal British Legion.

Service of Remembrance: the service will begin at 3pm. The Bugler will sound The Last Post during the service and the two-minutes silence will be held.

In the event of adverse weather, the parade and wreath-laying ceremony will be cancelled – a decision about this will be made and announced by the parade marshall, in advance of the parade.

Wreaths will be laid at the church altar, and members of The Royal British Legion accompanied by the chaplain will take the wreaths to the war memorial.
