Bradley Bridge in Malpas re-opened to traffic in December, slightly ahead of schedule.
Significant repairs were needed on the bridge, which required Old Malpas Road (B5395) near Malpas to be closed in order the works to be carried out safely.
Following investigation works on the bridge in January 2017, repair works began on Monday 2nd October 2017.
Cheshire West and Chester Council’s cabinet member for environment, Cllr Karen Shore said: “The works involved removing the existing bridge parapet and building a stronger higher parapet with sandstone blocks in order to provide better containment for any vehicle collisions.
“Steel ties have also been installed through the arch barrel to control existing cracks and through the side walls of the bridge to prevent further outward movement.
“Drainage on the bridge has also been improved.”
She concluded: “The road is now open, slightly ahead of the expected 12-weeks works programme.”
