Nantwich Museum is seeking funding for its forthcoming exhibition ‘Empowerment of Women – a local perspective’ which is due to open on Tuesday 30th October.
The exhibition will celebrate the centenary of the earliest successes of the women’s suffrage campaign through the lives of three local women who, in different ways and at different times, took up the causes that the women’s suffrage movement fought for.
It will include: the writer and community activist Helen Macfarlane, champion of women’s rights Ada Nield Chew, and most recently Gwyneth Dunwoody who was a long-serving member of Parliament for Crewe and Nantwich.
Local activities furthering the suffrage cause and also women’s contributions to the First World War are also set to be explored.
As an independent museum and registered charity, the museum depends on local authority grants but must find funding to cover more than half of its operating costs.
For this reason, it is seeking £300 to meet the cost of its next exhibition through Crowdfunding, which can be accessed through Just Giving (www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/nantwichmuseum). Donations, however small, will be greatly appreciated.
