There’s only a few weeks to go until Macclesfield will be celebrating St George’s Day, and preparations are well underway.
Organised by Macclesfield Town Council, and taking place on Sunday 22nd April, people in Macclesfield won’t need to go far to find some exciting St George’s Day celebrations.
Market Place will be at the centre of the patriotic, dragon-slaying, family fun.
The event will see a special appearance by St George and the dragon as well as a birds of prey display, face painting, balloon modelling, morris dancing, cricket games, table football, juggling tips, an England quiz and a fantastic opportunity for children to take part in a knight’s training session.
All activities are free to take part in, whilst hot food and drinks will be available to purchase.
Activities will take place from 11am until 2:30pm.
At 2.30pm there will be a St George’s Day parade – setting off from Duke Street and heading to St Michael’s Church where representatives of the Scouts will renew their promise.
The church service begins at 3pm and everyone is welcome to attend.
People who come along to the event are encouraged to enter into the patriotic spirit of the occasion by wearing red and white.
If children would like to take part in the knight’s training school, all they need to do is bring along a toy sword with them.
So, dig out the ‘chainmail’ and bring your children so they can learn the dragon slaying skills of St George!
St George’s Day itself is on Monday 23rd April.
