A Chester-based violinist is set to return to the city’s town hall next month, along with his orchestra, for two concerts celebrating Mother’s Day.
Following on from the sell-out success of his Christmas concerts, Philip Chidell is set to stage the special concerts on Sunday 15 March 2026.
There will be a matinee performance at 2.30pm as well as an evening performance at 7.30pm.
The concerts will once again see Chidell lead his 20-strong orchestra of talented young musicians from across the North West as they perform a programme celebrating motherhood alongside timeless classics.
“Chester Town Hall is a wonderful space to perform in, and Mother’s Day felt like the perfect moment to share music that’s expressive, romantic and full of warmth,” Chidell said.
“It’s very much a celebration for everyone – so yes, fathers are also allowed.”
Audiences can expect a mix of popular classical favourites, film themes, plus music from the West End and Broadway.

Chidell began studying the violin at the age of six.
Two years later, he was offered a place at the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, becoming their youngest student at the time.
He was soon performing around the UK, and aged 13 he played for the first time as a soloist.
He has performed at venues including the Bridgewater Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, Manchester Cathedral and St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Chidell set up his orchestra 18 months ago, fulfilling a long-held dream. Together, they have now staged seven concerts in Chester, attracting large and enthusiastic audiences each time.
