Listed below are all of the candidates seeking your vote in the Shakerley ward.

Voters in Shakerley can select one candidate to represent them on Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Shakerley candidates:

  • John Harding (Liberal Democrats)
  • Mark Stocks (Conservatives)
  • Andy Stott (Labour)
  • Jon Stutfield (Green Party)

John Harding (Liberal Democrats)

I have lived in Cheshire for almost 20 years and I was part of Moulton Parish Council for six years. I work in IT in Peover, and am married with two children.

My hobbies include cycling, reading, running and I am an amateur author.

I am particularly concerned about the damage HS2 will do to Northwich.

It is crucial that our unitary authority supports the affected communities, and we oppose this eye-wateringly expensive vanity project that has no business case or public support.

I am also campaigning to ensure that our local area receives their fair share of resources from our unitary authority.

It’s vital that our regeneration projects, such as Weaver Square and Moss Farm, are brought to fruition quickly.

I would also work to encourage local communities to create their own neighbourhood plans, which gives parishes a strong voice in how their villages develop and evolve.

Mark Stocks (Conservatives)

I am standing for re-election to Shakerley ward, which I have represented since 2009.

I am a project engineer working in the aerospace industry and was brought up on the family farm in Byley.

My priorities are to help residents with day-to-day issues as well as ensuring the council is efficiently managed.

I have strongly opposed HS2 and will continue to do so. I will also work to mitigate the impact on our villages and communities in the Mid-Cheshire area should it proceed.

I will continue to oppose developments that are inappropriate such as the new housing development in Sproston and current re-development of the Octel site at Lostock Gralam which will be retrospective.

I will continue to work to support improvements to our highways and road safety across the ward.

I keep in touch with residents across the ward and enjoy working with them on a regular basis.
