Listed below are all of the candidates seeking your vote in the Shavington ward.
Voters in Shavington can select one candidate to represent them on Cheshire East Council.
Shavington candidates:
- Linda Buchanan (Labour)
- David Marren (independent)
- Claire Wain (Conservatives)

Linda Buchanan (Labour)
I have lived in the local area since 1985. Both my sons went to Shavington Primary School on which I served as a governor.
I am currently a Shavington-Cum-Gresty parish councillor serving as chair of the staffing committee, vice chair of the environment and recreation committee and was vice chair of the neighbourhood planning committee.
I successfully led the parish council campaign group to save Shavington-Cum-Gresty boundary.
I volunteer as an administrator on Wybunbury United Charities (Shavington) and am a speedwatch volunteer.
My pledges include:
• Heritage – to ensure it is protected
• Speeding – working to tackle this
• Maintenance – to hold contractors to account for timely repairs
• Cost of living – working with local charities to support families suffering from hardship

David Marren (independent)
I became a Cheshire East Councillor in 2011, but before that I worked in local government, working my way up from being a clerk at Stafford Borough Council to an executive director for the former Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council – where, amongst many other things, I had responsibility for street cleaning, refuse collection, recycling, cemeteries and the crematorium, swimming pools and sports centres, highways, markets, car parking and community enforcement..
I know how council services should work and I promise to use my experience to fight for the best services for Shavington Ward residents as an independent.

Claire Wain (Conservatives)
I have lived in Cheshire East all of my life, and in Shavington with my young family for almost seven years.
I am a chartered accountant and have worked for a local business for the last 10 years.
I love our local area and am passionate about standing up for my community.
I am a current parish councillor and chair of the finance committee, regularly raise money for local charities and when necessary I have no problem rolling my sleeves up and getting stuck in.
I’m environmentally conscious and against the proposed green bin tax, which I believe will lead to more fly tipping and garden waste going in black bins.
So Cheshire remains proudly non-partisan and has provided the same opportunity to all parties and independent candidates.
