Big-name acts are heading to Staffordshire this summer as part of Trentham Live 2023.

The event will span four days, with four shows hosted in the unique outdoor setting of The Trentham Estate near Stoke-on-Trent.

Between 17th-20th August 2023, the venue will see the likes of Olly Murs, Natalie Imbruglia, Razorlight and Kaiser Chiefs taking to the stage – with more acts due to be announced.

Kerrie Pope, head of events at The Trentham Estate, said: “Following on from last year’s successful event, we are really excited about 2023!

“It’s an incredible line up and we know that people will really enjoy an exciting weekend of live music, fun and feasting in our unique historic setting.

“There’s an electric atmosphere at Trentham Live and it’s amazing to see the festival get bigger and bigger each year as friends and families come together to party.”

Here are the big names already signed up for the Saturday and Sunday:

Razorlight (support act) Saturday 19th August 2023

London quartet Razorlight formed in 2002, when front man Johnny Borrell grew tired of the solo troubadour life and teamed up with Swedish guitarist Björn Ågnen.

They instantly hit on a winning formula, straddling the emerging scenes in New York and Camden with their angular, pop-inspired indie rock.

The band quickly amassed a slew of hits – including their 2004 debut album, Up All Night, and its even more successful follow-up in 2006, Razorlight.

Tours with Queen and Oasis introduced them to the masses and the single America gave the band their first UK number one.

Following a series of line-up changes, Borrell remained the only original member of the band and put Razorlight on hold in 2011 to return to his solo career.

However, he came back to the group the following year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Up All Night.

The band’s first new album in a decade, Olympus Sleeping, then followed in 2018.

Last year, Borrell and long-time drummer Andy Burrows patched up their differences and announced a ‘best of’ compilation (featuring two new Razorlight songs) with an accompanying tour scheduled to begin in April this year.

Kaiser Chiefs (headline act) Saturday 19th August 2023

Founded by secondary school friends and fervent Leeds United supporters, the West Yorkshire quintet Kaiser Chiefs took their name from the South African football club Kaizer Chiefs FC which was formerly home to Leeds hero Lucas Radebe.

Inspired by new wave, pop-rock and punk, Kaiser Chiefs broke onto the music scene in 2005 with their debut album Employment, produced by Stephen Street (who was also the producer for The Smiths and Blur).

Not only did the album spawn the hit single I Predict A Riot, it also helped Kaiser Chiefs score three BRIT Awards and saw them shortlisted for a Mercury Prize.

Their 2007 follow up – Yours Truly, Angry Mob – reached number one in the UK albums chart, with its lead track Ruby becoming the band’s first number one single.

Each of their next four albums (2008’s Off With Their Heads; 2011’s The Future Is Medieval; 2016’s Stay Together; and 2014’s Education, Education, Education & War) broke into the top 10 in the charts, with Education, Education, Education & War making it all the way to number one.

The hits also continued to flow – including Oh My God, Everyday I Love You Less And Less, Modern Way, Everything Is Average Nowadays, The Angry Mob and Coming Home.

Alongside tours supporting their albums, and countless festival appearances, the band also took part in the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony where they played Pinball Wizard by The Who.

Vocalist Ricky Wilson also became a familiar face on tv, appearing as a coach on BBC series The Voice from 2014 to 2016.

In 2019, Kaiser Chiefs released their seventh LP, Duck, produced by Ben H Allen (who’s also produced Gnarls Barkley and Animal Collective).

They promoted the album with a special concert at Elland Road, commemorating 100 years of Leeds United FC.

November 2022 saw them complete an arena tour alongside The Fratellis and The Sherlocks.

Natalie Imbruglia (support act) Sunday 20th August 2023

One of the UK’s most loved pop artists, Natalie Imbruglia first entered the picture more than 25 years ago with her chart-topping smash hit Torn – the most played song worldwide on commercial radio, selling over 4 million copies in 1997 alone.

Since then, she has released six studio albums and her latest, Firebird, came out in 2021.

It features the singles Build It Better, On My Way and Nothing Missing and reached the top 10 in the UK charts.

Natalie has won eight ARIAS, two Brit Awards, one Billboard Music Award and has received three Grammy nominations.

She also won the third series of The Masked Singer in the UK, and made a surprise cameo on the final episode of Neighbours where she reprised her role as Beth Brennan.

Natalie recently toured Australia with the Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli – as well as hosting and performing at the prestigious ARIA Awards – and is currently working on new material.

She’s understood to be both touring and releasing new music in 2023.

Olly Murs (headline act) Sunday 20th August 2023

Since coming runner-up on the 2009 series of The X Factor, pop singer and songwriter Olly Murs has gone on to achieve incredible success.

Not long after the competition, he embarked on a sold-out X Factor arena tour with many singles and albums topping the charts thereafter.

In 2018, Murs got his own spinning red chair when he joined the coaching panel of The Voice.

The following year, he mentored Molly Hocking who was crowned champion of the tv competition’s eighth series.

Murs spent summer 2019 touring the UK with a run of shows celebrating 10 years in the music industry as well as promoting the release of his sixth studio album (2018’s You Know I Know).

A devoted football fan and talented footballer, Murs is co-owner of Essex’s non-league Coggeshall Town FC.

Often a participant in charity football matches, in September 2020 he captained England in Soccer Aid at Old Trafford.

In summer 2021, Murs embarked on a huge UK tour, performing his biggest hits – including tracks from his triple platinum album Never Been Better.

In August 2022 he signed with EMI for his first studio album in four years, Marry Me – with Die Of A Broken Heart as its lead single.

The Trentham Estate

The Trentham Estate offers one of the UK’s most diverse days out, with a range of activities for all ages.

It’s one of the country’s top leisure destinations, attracting more than 3 million visitors per year.

In 2021, Trentham won an iTravel award for Green Space of the Year in recognition of the natural refuge it provided during the pandemic.

Trentham Gardens, at the heart of the estate, brought in over 800,000 paid visits in 2019 which means it ranks among the most-visited gardens in the UK.

The 725-acre site is currently owned and managed by St Modwen, but was previously owned by the Dukes of Sutherland for more than 400 years.

It has been undergoing a massive regeneration programme since 2003, and is considered to be a conservation and biodiversity hotspot.

Trentham Monkey Forest is home to 140 free-roaming Barbary macaques, and the site also boasts extensive woodlands which are recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

In addition, the wider estate provides grazing for a variety of rare breeds as well as wild black fallow deer.

Trentham’s famous Italianate Gardens were designed by Charles Barry in the 1830s, and have been lovingly restored by top landscape designers.

There’s also an idyllic walk which covers a circuit around the mile-long lake, originally laid out by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown in the 18th century.

Brown was employed at Trentham from 1759 to 1780 and created the mile-long lake as well as the surrounding parkland.

The site is also home to Trentham Garden Centre and Trentham Shopping Village, which contains an eclectic mix of shops and eateries as well as a 119-bedroom hotel.
