Arts and culture on the march to Northwich

Shares

As we reported recently, a major arts festival is heading to the streets of Northwich this Saturday (6th October).

Now Northwich is a free, family friendly festival starting at 1pm and continuing throughout the day.

The event will conclude with a stunning evening parade of SAURUS, performed by a troupe of artists from the Netherlands.

The show has been dazzling audiences across every continent, and captures the imaginations of people of all ages.

It features giant prehistoric beasts that roam among the crowds, interacting with audiences – using fire, light and music to make an unforgettable experience.

Over a 100 local performers will be taking part in community performances curated and led by Cheshire Dance and Fallen Angels Dance Theatre alongside nationally recognised artists such as Highly Sprung (where an astronaut is suspended 20ft in the air as he goes in search of solutions to an environmental disaster).

Cllr Louise Gittins, Cheshire West and Chester Council cabinet member for communities and wellbeing, said: “Everyone should have access to high quality arts culture and we are delighted this festival is taking place in Northwich.

“We’ve been told to expect the unexpected.”

The festival has been produced by a range of partners to create a high quality event, led and guided by local arts organisations and expertise, working alongside external partners.

The aim is to develop an annual event for the people of Northwich and surrounding areas; showcasing the best local, national and international street artists.
