Autumn Organfest in Wilmslow

Shares

The celebration of the new three manual pipe organ at St Bartholomew’s Church in Wilmslow continues on Saturday 29th September (7.30pm) with a celebrity recital by Graham Eccles.

Graham is well known to Wilmslow music lovers for his accompaniment of the Barnaby Choir.

He has served as director of music at the cathedrals of Chester, St Asaph and Bangor. He also appears regularly on the BBC Radio 4 ‘Daily Service’.

A recital on the 6th October will then be given by Michael Overbury who won the Manchester International Organ Competition in 1982, and who has performed widely across the UK including two appearances at the Royal Festival Hall in London.

The final recital – on the 13th October – will be given by Neil Taylor who is well known locally as the inspirational director of the St George’s Singers of Poynton.

Neil has also served as organist of the cathedrals of Norwich and Sheffield.

Philip Underwood, the director of music at St Bartholomew’s commented: “The recitals feature a wide range of music including familiar pieces by Elgar, Satie and the theme tune from Songs of Praise.”

Each recital will last one hour and admission is free, with a retiring collection. Full details below:
