The Star of Wonder

Poynton author Jenny Cooke has signed a deal with Marple-based publishing house Tiny Tree to release a new anthology of short children’s adventure stories, all based in Alderley Edge at Christmas time.

The author, whose previous work includes adult fiction titles such as The Cross Behind Bars, makes her children’s fiction debut with the book, which is set to release on 15th November and will be available from all good bookshops.

The stories centre around a group of time travelling children seeking adventure, with one character in particular being close to the author’s heart.

The character of Mandy was written by Jenny for her granddaughter, who has Williams Syndrome.

Williams Syndrome is a genetic condition which is present at birth and is characterised by a number of medical disorders, including developmental delays, cardiovascular disease and learning challenges.

Williams Syndrome affects 1 in 10,000 people worldwide and is known to occur equally in both males and females and in every culture.

Jenny hopes that by incorporating it into her work, she can shed more light on the disability and champion her granddaughter at the same time.

Titled The Star of Wonder, the book will release in time for Christmas and promises stories that will make the season more magical and more menacing than ever before.

Delving into the mysterious Edge in Alderley, Sidney had hoped he’d meet a wizard. Instead, he finds a silver coin that will change everything.

Tangled in a time warp, Sidney, his sister Mandy and their friends need to escape all under the watchful eye of an ancient miner, desperate to get his hands on the coin.
