Knutsford’s annual Pumpkin Path spooktacular is returning once again on 31st October (4-7pm).
Retailers in the town, along with Knutsford Town Council, are putting preparations together for yet another evening of frightening frolics and ghoulish goings-on!
The event started in 2012 led by a group of retailers – including Mr Simms, Gusto and Pulse of Perfumery.
The council took on the organisation last year, helping to continue the community and business led event.
As in previous years, the event this October will see families dressing up and seeking pumpkins in shop windows with the letters forming the words ‘Pumpkin Path’.
They will be able to collect sweets and treats along the way.
Spooky surprises
This year:
– Fuchsia School of Dancing will be putting on a display at certain times throughout the evening
– Knutsford Beats will be singing some Halloween songs and dressing up in the Wallwood area of town
– There will be spooky characters roaming King Street provided by Scarewood
– Knutsford Market Hall will also be staying open to provide face painting, refreshments and traditional Halloween games.
There is talk of organising a fancy dress competition, with more details on how this will take shape coming together nearer the time.
There will be a window competition too, for the shops and businesses. This will be judged by the public, with certificates given out by the town mayor on 1st November.
Any business can enter this competition you do not have to be in the road closure area.
Road closures
Road closures will include: King Street at the junction with Church Walk to the junction with Drury Lane plus Minshull Street. A full traffic management service will be in place.
There will also be parking pay suspension from midnight on Tuesday 30th October from the King Street junction with Tatton Street to the junction with Drury Lane, to enable two-way traffic to ensure residents’ access is maintained.
Host a pumpkin
There are 10 Pumpkins that need hosting in a shop window, as the location of one has already been decided. (Our lips are sealed!)
Town centre businesses are now being invited to host a pumpkin on a first come, first served basis.
Those hosting a pumpkin will remain open throughout the duration of the event (up until 7pm) even if this is outside of normal trading hours.
