Combermere Abbey will once again be opening its doors to the public this year.
The venue’s annual bluebell walks return in April, and there will be tours of the house as well as the opportunity to book an overnight stay on the estate.
The abbey is located on the Cheshire/Shropshire border and last year welcomed hundreds of visitors.
It was founded in 1133 and is a medieval gothic country house set in over 1,000 acres of woodland and farmland.
Following a major restoration project, the estate was saved from ruin and transformed into a holiday retreat and wedding venue.
Combermere Abbey is owned by Sarah Callander Beckett, who said: “It is always such a joy to open our grounds and abbey to the public in this way every year.
“We see new and old faces, all of whom enjoy every single second of their walk or tour.
“The snowdrops are already out in the woods, and the bluebells are very much on their way.
“This is truly nature’s gift to us, and we so enjoy sharing it with others.”
This year the bluebell walks will only be available on Sundays – with sessions at 10am and 2pm taking place on 23rd April, 30th April and 14th May.
The walk is around two miles long and takes around an hour.
Adult tickets cost £7 and children are £3.50, while babies and dogs go free. Pre-booking is required.
House tours will take place between Tuesday 7th March and Thursday 1st June 2023.
These will run at specific times on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays – and cost £12.50 for adults and £6 for children. The tours are free of charge for children under 10.
Group bookings are also being taken (for 15-20 people) and can include a tour of the house, a Q&A session and afternoon tea.
