1,700 participants from over 100 local primary and secondary schools showcased their sporting talents in the Cheshire and Warrington Winter School Games county finals.
This year, the county finals saw 11 sports competitions taking place between January and March at various venues across the county.
Youngsters from across Cheshire and Warrington competed in a range of sporting activities including: badminton, basketball, boccia, football, handball, hockey, netball, rowing, rugby, sports hall athletics and volleyball.
As well as encouraging young people to take part in sports competitions, the initiative also helps to promote physical activity and encourages young people to get active in a fun way.
The smooth running of each event was made possible by an army of over 150 volunteer young leaders who ensured the county’s School Games was delivered on its motto of ‘for young people, by young people’.
The event was delivered by Active Cheshire in partnership with Cheshire and Warrington School Sport Alliance.
Niall McGregor, from Cheshire and Warrington School Sport Alliance, said: “The children showed truly outstanding sporting behaviours and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
“Everyone competed to the best of their abilities and demonstrated the School Games values of team work, self-belief, respect, passion, honesty and determination.”
