Ocean Colour Scene will headline the Friday night of a brand-new concert series taking place in Stoke-on-Trent in May.
They will take to the stage at Trentham Gardens on 30th May, as part of a three-night concert series which is celebrating the city’s centenary year.
Ocean Colour Scene will be supported by The Enemy, and tickets are on sale now.
Having spent six years honing their sound, the band exploded onto the Britpop scene, delivering three top-five albums: Moseley Shoals (1996), Marchin’ Already (1997), and One From The Modern (1999). Their chart-topping hits include top-40 singles such as the iconic “The Riverboat Song.”
They remain one of the most beloved bands of their era, known for high-energy performances and an ability to bring audiences together.
Alastair Budd, senior director at Trentham, said: “Ocean Colour Scene and The Enemy are legendary acts that will undoubtedly set the tone for an unforgettable weekend of live music.
“It’s a privilege to host this event as part of Stoke-on-Trent’s centenary celebrations, and we can’t wait to welcome fans from across the region to join us in marking this historic milestone.”
The event is part of the Stoke 100 celebrations, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Stoke-on-Trent being granted city status by King George V.
The year-long programme highlights the city’s heritage and aims to unite communities, businesses and the voluntary sector.
A spokesperson for Stoke-on-Trent City Council, which is coordinating the celebrations, said: “Trentham is a hugely popular local visitor attraction and events venue, so it’s great to have them on board for our centenary.
“Music is an important part of our cultural heritage – most of us will remember the first band we saw live.”
The Friday night concert will be the second of a three-day series of live music events, with bosses yet to announce the Thursday and Saturday acts.
