The Friends of Handforth Station (FoHS) have added another award to their collection in recognition of their work at Handforth Station and in the local community.
The award was presented to Ian Ball and Roger Small of FoHS at the Cheshire Best Kept Stations Awards awards evening on 17th March.
The group won for continuous improvement at the station during 2022, with their award sponsored by Cheshire East Council.
Ian, who is the treasurer for the group, said: “We weren’t the only winners during the evening, but we were thrilled that this coveted prize recognised all the work that we did throughout last year.
“We are already doing more of the same in 2023, and we thank the local community for their help towards this.”
Mike Bishop, founder and president of FoHS, commented: “This award recognises several of our initiatives to link the Handforth community to its railway station, and to help encourage knowledge and use of the local train line.
“We will be mounting it inside the Handforth Station ticket office for all to see.”
The Cheshire Best Kept Stations organisation aims to promote, publicise and encourage community involvement at railway stations across the county.
Friends of Handforth Station was formed in 1996 to safeguard and enhance the station facilities and environment.
