Hundreds of artworks are due to be displayed at a charity art fair in Chester this September.
The Chester Art and Artisan Makers Fair will showcase the work of a dozen local artists in the iconic setting of the Bluecoat Courtyard on Upper Northgate Street.
Original art will be available to purchase, and the fair will include a variety of visual artworks, ceramics and jewellery – all made by local artists.
The event is a collaboration between The Chester Bluecoat Charity and Chester Art Centre.
The art centre helps give new emerging artists a chance to develop, get into the very challenging business of selling art, and progress to a career in the arts.
A spokesperson for Chester Art Centre said: “Our mission is to support and nurture the talent we have in Chester by hosting a vibrant art market.
“We have affordable interior art as well as jewellery, with all pieces created exclusively by Chester artists.
“Celebrating our second year, the fair is proof of talent in the city and the thriving local art scene – and creates an enjoyable social event.
“The fair is free entry and we extend a warm welcome to all.”
Previous artists who have exhibited with the Chester Art Centre fairs at the Bluecoat Courtyard include Jay Hurst, Jill Pears and Denise Dooley.
A donation from the proceeds of the fair will be made to a local charity.
The event will take place in the historic Grade II* listed Bluecoat Building, owned by The Chester Bluecoat Charity.
It is a hub for charities and voluntary organisations, and The Chester Bluecoat Charity is one of the oldest charities in the city.
It awards grants to organisations that use education and community development to change the lives of people in need throughout Chester and the surrounding area.
Last year, the charity awarded Kidsbank a grant of £45,000 (paid over the course of three years) which has helped the charity move into larger premises.
This will help Kidsbank extend its reach and add extra services.
Other local charities and causes The Chester Bluecoat Charity has supported include Fallen Angels Dance Theatre, Passion for Learning and it has also sponsored educational bursaries.
The upcoming art fair is the last in a series that’s been running over the summer, with the first three art fairs of 2022 said to have been a great success
It will take place on Saturday 17th September (10am – 6pm) on the front courtyard of the Bluecoat Building.
