Christmas is coming and if you want to give your teen the ultimate pressie then you may well be looking at popping a bow on top of a car.
When you’re buying a car as a gift for a young driver, there are some important points you need to take into consideration before wrapping the keys and popping them under your Christmas tree:
1) Safety – the first time your teen drives solo, your heart will be in your mouth; knowing the car they’re driving is Euro NCAP 5 star rated will help ease your nerves… just a little!
2) Insurance – teen insurance is extraordinarily expensive, but keeping the engine size down to 1 litre helps as does checking the insurance grouping of the car you choose.
3) New vs used – you might think that insurance would be less expensive on a cheaper car, but this is not necessarily the case. Buying a much older car can cost more to insure than buying a car that’s new or less than 3 years old.
