Police responded to reports of an altercation between a teenage boy and teachers at Poynton High School this afternoon (09/11/20).
Police were called at around 12.45pm following an incident which occurred earlier in the day.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “We’d like to reassure parents and guardians in the Poynton area following an incident that occurred at a school earlier today.
“At around 12.45pm police were called to reports of concerns for the welfare of a teenage boy at Poynton High School.
“We attended and found that a 15-year-old boy had been involved in an altercation with teachers at the school.
“The boy was subsequently located by officers on London Road South, Poynton. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife in a public place.”
Inspector Kelly Johnston commented: “I’d like to reassure parents and guardians that this was an isolated incident and at no point were any threats made towards any pupils at the school.
“A 15-year-old boy, who is a pupil at the school, has been arrested and is assisting with our enquiries.
“Officers will remain in attendance at the school to provide reassurance. I urge anyone with any concerns to speak to an officer.”
