Knutsford residents can look forward to some spooky family fun as the annual Pumpkin Path is set to return in a new format in 2020!

The event, which usually runs on Halloween evening with an array of entertainment and giveaways, will be modified to an informal COVID-secure trail which families can enjoy at their leisure over the space of a week.

The event will run from Monday 26 th October to Saturday 31 st October and families can enjoy the Pumpkin Path at any time during the week. The event will feature no road closures and there will be no formal event with entertainment on Halloween night. Instead, the event will extend this year to include the whole town centre and will stretch across several days to allow families to pick a time that is safer for them.

Youngsters can this year scour Princess Street and Canute Place as well as King Street, Minshull Street and Regent Street to search for 15 pumpkins which will be spread across the town centre. The event is run in partnership with town centre businesses who will be creating spooky window displays which can be enjoyed for the entire week. Families can vote for their favourite windows in the Best Dressed Window Competition during the event!

Knutsford will transform into a spooky arena for the week with decorations placed throughout the town centre to add some spooky atmosphere to the festivities. Entry forms will be available from a
variety of locations throughout the town centre which will be confirmed closer to the event. The completed entry forms can be dropped off to designated points and will be entered into the prize
draw to win a variety of special prizes! Some shops may be offering freebies and giveaways which will be optional for families to partake in or decline

There will also be a special pumpkin carving competition running alongside the event this year for some added fun! Families can send in photos of their pumpkins carved at home which will be uploaded to Facebook and a selection will be chosen by the Mayor of Knutsford to win special prizes.
The entries can be sent to jill.webb@knutsfordtowncouncil.gov.uk in the lead up to 31 st October and winners will be selected and confirmed the following week.

Regular attendees of the event should make note of the changes in place and avoid gathering at the usual event times on Halloween on King Street as no road closures will be in place, so families should take care of oncoming traffic. Families will be welcome to attend the path whenever suits them to avoid mass gatherings in the town centre, as the pumpkins will be in place for the whole week. No on-street entertainment will take place this year due to social distancing requirements.

Attendees can dress up if they want to and send their photos to the event organisers at Knutsford Town Council who will share the photos on their social media platforms!

The Town Council’s Events Officer Alex Brown said, “We are delighted to be bringing this informal version of our very popular Pumpkin Path event to the town centre this Halloween. We would ask that all regular attendees make themselves aware of the changes this year and do not attend on Halloween evening expecting the usual event. We would particularly discourage visitors who usually travel from further afield for the event from travelling on Halloween to Knutsford as the usual event will not be taking place.

We know many will be disappointed by the changes, however this format will allow Knutsford families to attend and enjoy the Pumpkin Path at leisure at a time they feel is safer for them during the week, as the event will run from 26 th to 31 st October.

Designated drop-off points will be confirmed for the completed entry forms and there may be some freebies along the way! Spooky window displays can be enjoyed throughout the town centre as we have extended the reach of this year’s event to include all of our wonderful town centre streets and areas. We’d ask that all parents ensure their little ones are supervised at all times as there will be no road closures for this year’s event.

Families can also enjoy our pumpkin carving competition – we can’t wait to see your spooky creations! There will be some special prizes up for grabs for the competition, as well as prizes for our Pumpkin Path selected from the completed entry forms.”

Any enquiries regarding this year’s event can be sent to alex.brown@knutsfordtowncouncil.gov.uk or you can call the office on 01565 653 929.
