The Wildes Hotel Group is currently transforming a historic site on Bridge Street in Chester into a one-of-a-kind boutique hotel and restaurant.
The venue, which is set to open in spring 2023, will cost £5 million to complete and will feature 18 bedrooms, a spa (with a rooftop pool overlooking the city) as well as a destination restaurant and bar by chef Harry Guy.
It will also have outdoor seating set within the historic Rows, offering guests views of the famous Eastgate Clock.
The hotel’s restaurant will be the first solo venture by chef Harry Guy, and will be called ‘X by Harry Guy’.
The ‘experience’ restaurant will sit across two floors, and bosses say it will take diners on a culinary adventure from the moment they step across the threshold.
They add that each aspect of the dining experience has been designed to ignite every one of the senses.
The latest CGI mock-ups of the interiors show off a dramatic transformation of one of Chester’s longest standing buildings.
Inspired by the rich history of its setting on Bridge Street, the renovation will draw from a deep colour palette.
Its 18 bedroom suites will be characterised by hidden gems bursting with colour, – with pattern and texture throughout, making each guest’s stay truly memorable.
The hotel will boast an extensive spa, treatment rooms and a thermal suite with a panoramic sauna.
Guests will also be able to enjoy a roof top vitality pool overlooking the city.
The spa’s relaxation lounge will be a calming space for guests awaiting their spa treatments.
The dark and moody palette of the lounge, combined with soft lighting and relaxed seating, creates a private intimate space.
Pops of burnt orange, deep blues and Victorian greens will promote rejuvenation, serenity and healing.

The team behind the development includes interior designers SpaceInvader, alongside architect firm David Cox Architects.
David Cox commented: “Retaining the architectural integrity of this iconic listed building has been a priority consideration during the design development.
“We’ve been working within the constraints of the existing building structure to maximise the very best use of space to create a luxurious experience for guests, whether they are staying in one of the luxurious suites or popping in for a cocktail.
“The proposed spa/pool and restaurant will be an exceptional asset to Wildes Chester, both of which will celebrate a touch of indulgence in the heart of the city.”
SpaceInvader founder John Williams added: “Projects like this don’t come around very often.
“Both Paul Wildes and Harry Guy have such a strong vision for this project – whilst the setting, in Chester’s famous Rows, couldn’t be more special.
“For the design team, it’s all about doing the building proud, making Paul and Harry proud and delivering a truly stand-out new hotel and hospitality destination for the inhabitants of and visitors to the historic heart of Chester.”
The hotel and restaurant will be opening in spring 2023.
