More than 90 artists enter Buxton Fringe this July

Buxton Fringe organisers have confirmed more than 90 entrants have already signed up for this year’s festival

The discounted early bird entry period – which ran up until the end of February – was responsible for many of the entries, but the team says new events are still rolling in.

Meanwhile, The Green Man Gallery has announced that it is now completely full with 30 shows adding up to a total of 70 performances.

Two other managed venues, Underground and The Rotunda, are now building up their programmes as well.

This year’s Buxton Fringe takes place 5th-23rd July 2023.

Fringe chair Stephen Walker says: “We’re heartened by the volume of entries already in and excited by the quality we are attracting to Buxton.

“With even more still to come, we are already set fair for a great Fringe this July!”

Among the exciting recent theatre entries are: Breathe Out Theatre’s Lost and Found, Hambledon Productions’ Maybe Dick, and a Belfast-set drama from Spanner In The Works called What If.

The already-bulging music category includes: City of Manchester Opera; award-wining harp guitarist Jon Pickard; neoclassical music from Gifts From Crows Trio; dynamic rock from Isaac Neilson (formerly from Fuzzy Felt World); and a dementia-friendly coffee concert from specialist Katy Allan.

Laughs aplenty are promised with Barrel of Laughs (celebrating its 18th year) plus shows from award-winning Impromptu Shakespeare, stand up Nathan Cassidy, musical comedy act Grant Curnow, jokes supremo Richard Pulsford and many more.

And the entertainment doesn’t stop there – further Fringe treats include an entire mini-festival in Chelmorton.

As well as that there’ll be dance, magic, children’s events, art exhibitions, workshops, trails and more.

Performers entering by 31st March can still take advantage of a reduced entry fee of £77.

The strict final deadline for the printed programme is 16th April.

A sneak preview of Fringe talent will be showcased at the Fringe’s open-to-all event Springboard, which is taking place at The Green Man Gallery on Saturday 1st April (7-9pm).
