The Home Office has announced additional funding worth £3m for Cheshire Police to invest into neighbourhood policing.
Dan Price, Cheshire’s police and crime commissioner welcomed the announcement, saying it was important that officers were more visible to residents in the county.
In total the Home Office has said it will pump an extra £200m into having more police officers working in local neighbourhoods across the country.
In December, the government promised £100m of funding would be made available to police and crime commissioners to increase police officer numbers in their areas.
The additional £100m announced at the end of January adds to the amount which was already committed nationally.
“Cheshire residents continue to tell me that they want to see more visible local police,” Mr Price said.
“This is something I committed to during my election campaign and this announcement helps to deliver on that promise.”
