Sixth formers in Cheshire West and Chester are celebrating their A Level success this week, after results were delivered on Thursday (16th August).
More than 2,000 students from 14 schools and colleges across Cheshire West and Chester sat the examinations.
At a time of significant change, with the majority of A Level subjects having been reformed, pupils have returned an overall pass rate of 97 percent – compared with 98 percent nationally.
At the highest A* grade the results accounted for 7 percent of all awards in Cheshire West and Chester. The national figure is 8 percent.
In Cheshire West and Chester, 26 percent of students gained a higher grade A* – A pass compared with the same percentage nationally.
Cllr Nicole Meardon, cabinet member for children and families, said: “A-levels are a testing experience and I applaud the outstanding achievement of students. I also want to thank the hard work of teaching and other staff.
“These results will set students in good standing for their future chosen university or career path. I wish them the very best for the future.
“We do recognise, however, that this may not be a time of celebration for everyone.
“We are here to offer support and guidance for those students whose results may not be all they had hoped for.”
