Listed below are all of the candidates seeking your vote in the Sutton ward.
Voters in Sutton can select one candidate to represent them on Cheshire East Council.
Sutton candidates:
- Laura Jones (Green Party)
- Steve Kay (Labour)
- Chris O’ Leary (Conservatives)
- Trevor Priestman (Liberal Democrats)

Laura Jones (Green Party)
I have lived in Langley for 10 years, moving to be close to my daughter and family.
I had an early career in local government, but then retrained as a mental health practitioner and trainer. I love walking in the forest and the hills, and cycle regularly.
I am now semi-retired, and keen to put energy into supporting the local community, and fighting to preserve our countryside and for a transition to a fairer and more sustainable economy.

Steve Kay (Labour)
Our Labour-led council has gone from strength to strength in the last four years working with the independent group, despite the continued punitive cuts to council budgets by the last 13 years of Tory mis-governance in Westminster.
With the cost of living crisis showing little sign of easing, brought on and exacerbated by the incompetent government, Sutton needs a strong Labour council.
I will be diligent advocate for the area, representing all local residents and striving to ensure the council continues to provide a quality, valued service to all.
I’ve worked in and around politics for many years but away from my working life I am a keen fell runner, rock climber and cyclist.
These hobbies, which along with my extensive experience dealing with complex political issues, show I have the tenacity and endurance to succeed as your councillor.

Chris O’ Leary (Conservatives)
I live in Wildboarclough, and before that lived in Langley. I am an academic, a political scientist.
I am actively involved in my local community; I am parish clerk to our parish meeting, am involved in the village fete, and this year in the village panto.
I am involved in the campaign to Save Danes Moss, and two years ago, I led the fight against Labour-run Cheshire East Council’s Community Governance Review proposals, that would have sliced Sutton Parish Council in three, and destroyed several other parishes.
Over the past two years I have spoken to many residents and sent surveys to everyone to ask their views, and regularly report issues with potholes and blocked drains.
I will stand up the three villages of Langley, Lyme Green, and Sutton Lane Ends, in Rainow, Wincle, Wildbarclough and Macclesfield Forest, to get a better deal from Cheshire East Council.

Trevor Priestman (Liberal Democrats)
I have lived in Sutton ward for 10 years and work in the healthcare sector.
I feel that Sutton ward has, for too long, been underrepresented within Cheshire East Council and services across the ward have been neglected.
It’s time for change. If elected I will be a dedicated Cheshire East councillor for Sutton ward and listen to the concerns of all residents.
I will work to improve roads, support local businesses, and protect public services vital to our communities. I will press for 20mph zones to make our villages safer for everyone and seek practical solutions to issues of local flooding.
So Cheshire remains proudly non-partisan and has provided the same opportunity to all parties and independent candidates.
