We’ve asked all of the candidates standing for election to Cheshire East Council to provide our readers with a short introduction to themselves.

We’ll publish these daily for all 52 council wards (in alphabetical order) in the build up to the local elections on 4th May 2023.

You can view all of the Cheshire East Council candidate submissions together by clicking here.

Listed below are all of the candidates seeking your vote in the Sandbach Town ward.

Voters in Sandbach Town can select one candidate to represent them on Cheshire East Council.

Sandbach Town candidates:

  • John Arnold (Labour)
  • Artie Chalmers (Liberal Democrats)
  • Mike Muldoon (Conservatives)
  • Hope Voyce (Green Party)

John Arnold (Labour)

I’m a local boy in every sense. I grew up in Congleton where I run a small family printing business and I live here in Sandbach Town Ward with my wife and two kids.

I try to get involved and contribute whenever I can, including serving as a school governor and teaching computer programming to kids in after school clubs.

I believe in equality and inclusiveness and I’m extremely keen on encouraging positive steps to prevent further climate change.

Sandbach is special – we have a community of good people that know and help one another.

As a councillor it will be my job to listen to your concerns, answer your questions and try to give help when you need it.

I am standing in Sandbach Town Ward for both town and borough council.

Artie Chalmers (Liberal Democrats)

I have lived in Sandbach for nearly 25 years and am married with two children.

As a chartered accountant, I have had a varied business career – having held senior finance and general management positions in manufacturing, retail and banking companies before starting my own business in 2002, which is based in Middlewich and employs 20 people in the UK and 10 people in the Czech Republic.

In my spare time, I volunteer for a major youth organisation and enjoy British cars from the 60s and 70s, owning two Morris Minors and a Triumph Stag.

Mike Muldoon (Conservatives)

Hope Voyce (Green Party)
