Listed below are all of the candidates seeking your vote in the Macclesfield West and Ivy ward.
Voters in Macclesfield West and Ivy can select two candidates to represent them on Cheshire East Council.
Macclesfield West and Ivy candidates:
- Mary Brooks (Labour)
- Nick Mannion (Labour)
- Rajeev Rajan (Conservatives)
- Timothy Swatridge (Conservatives)

Mary Brooks (Labour)
I have lived in Macclesfield West and Ivy Ward since 2009 and have lived in Macclesfield nearly 20 years.
I currently work part-time as an administration assistant at Macclesfield Hospital in the radiology and breast surgery departments.
I have worked for the NHS and local government for over 20 years, delivering health improvement programmes and health awareness campaigns.
I am a supporter of Shelter, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and Campaign for Better Transport.
I think Macclesfield is a good place to live but I am very concerned about the decline in bus services over the years.
I come from Manchester originally and when I moved here I was disappointed at the poor bus network.
Good bus services are essential to enable all our residents to access services, jobs, leisure and social opportunities.
If elected I will press for Cheshire East Council to have control over bus services as Greater Manchester does.

Nick Mannion (Labour)
A lifelong Maxonian, I worked for 30 years in housing and regeneration, then taught at Macclesfield College.
I played 500 times for Macclesfield RUFC, these days holding a season ticket at Macclesfield FC.
I am a voluntary trustee of the local Almshouse Charityand of Macclesfield FC Community Sports Trust.
First elected to Cheshire East Council in 2015, re-elected in 2019, I was the portfolio holder for environment and regeneration between 2019-2021, since then chair of the economy and growth committee.
I led on the plan to deliver the pledge to make the council carbon neutral by 2025.
I have consistently opposed the current proposals for Danes Moss.
If re-elected, I will continue to support residents and businesses facing the challenges of the cost of living crisis, soaring inflation, lack of genuinely affordable homes for local families and climate change – all of which are a high priority on the doorstep.

Rajeev Rajan (Conservatives)
I was born in a highly political family in India and my passion for politics was ignited from a very young age.
I actively took part in campaigning, community service for people experiencing poverty and fought for area development.
I came to England in 2015, and in 2019 my wife and I moved to Macclesfield. We live on the Weston estate.
We both have been amazed by the warm welcome and kindness of our West & Ivy community.
It was then that I decided to serve and give the best to the people that form it. I am deacon in our church, carer for my wife and an accountant.
I believe the best way to provide, protect and promote the community is through politics.
My goal is to reverse the mismanagement in our Labour run council and provide a safe, green, and thriving environment for our ward.

Tim Swatridge
I have lived locally since 1989. I have experience as a town councillor in Poynton with particular interests in planning, community order and public safety.
I participate in voluntary work-based in Macclesfield and the surrounding area.
My aim if elected as a Cheshire East Councillor will be to represent and promote the priorities of my constituents for the betterment of the local community.
So Cheshire remains proudly non-partisan and has provided the same opportunity to all parties and independent candidates.
