Shares

We’ve asked all of the candidates standing for election to Cheshire East Council to provide our readers with a short introduction to themselves.

We’ll publish these daily for all 52 council wards (in alphabetical order) in the build up to the local elections on 4th May 2023.

You can view all of the Cheshire East Council candidate submissions together by clicking here.

Listed below are all of the candidates seeking your vote in the Macclesfield East ward.

Voters in Macclesfield East can select one candidate to represent them on Cheshire East Council.

Macclesfield East candidates:

  • Terry Bell (Labour)
  • Lindy Brett (Green Party)
  • Christopher Lovell (Liberal Democrats)
  • Nicholas Taylor (Conservatives)
  • Mick Warren (independent)

Terry Bell (Labour)

I’m a family man who has lived for over 20 years within Macclesfield, retiring from a career in IT during that period.

I originally started work for National Girobank, then moved to ICI and then onto various outsourcers.

I’m a lifetime union member, and wish to use Labour values to support Cheshire East residents:

1. Cutting the cost of living via reducing council tax and implementing a proper windfall tax on oil and gas firms

2. Reducing neighbourhood crime by putting extra neighbour police on the streets

3. Campaigning to protect our green spaces and Save Danes Moss.

Lindy Brett (Green Party)

I have lived in Macclesfield East ward for over 20 years, my children attended local schools.

I have been active in the Green Party for rather longer, and was a teacher and an astronomer, also a school governor for Macclesfield High School.

I am deeply concerned about the threats of pollution, climate change, and loss of species.

We need Cheshire East Council to protect us and the wild places against future shocks. We need to become resilient and build a healthy caring world.

I would fight for better insulated housing; building on brownfield sites; better and cheaper public transport; clean air and waterways; the protection of peatland like Danes Moss; supporting repair and re-use of our household machines; and increased recycling.

Christopher Lovell (Liberal Democrats)

Nothing submitted.

Nicholas Taylor (Conservatives)

I have lived in Macclesfield since 2016, after working around the country for many years.

I attended Poynton High School in the 1980s.

I work in financial services.

Mick Warren (independent)

Nothing submitted.
