The outgoing chair of the Buxton Festival Fringe has said he is looking forward to seeing new ideas emerge when his successor takes the reins.
This November’s AGM will be especially significant for the group, as Stephen Walker retires from the role of chair.
The meeting will take place at The Green Man Gallery on Hardwick Square South on Wednesday 20th November.
People are invited to arrive from 7pm for 7.30pm start.
Mr Walker said: “There’s a changing of the guard as I step down as chair at this year’s AGM. I’m looking forward to seeing new ideas emerge as the Fringe refreshes its team.
“It is a great time to find out more about how the Fringe operates and see if you want to get involved.”
The Buxton Festival Fringe committee said they also intended to use the occasion to offer their thanks to The Green Man Gallery, which has been an important venue for the annual festival but will be closing at the end of this year.
The AGM will include a chance to mingle, enjoy a glass of wine and take part in a Q&A with the volunteer team.
It will be followed by a short committee meeting – with newcomers welcome to stay and see how the Fringe works before deciding whether they want to join the organising committee.
The 2024 Fringe in July showcased nearly 200 acts – with some coming from as far afield as Canada, the USA and Australia.
Figures released by the Fringe committee suggest the event contributed more than £300,000 to the local economy.
The dates for the 2025 event have been announced as 9th-27th July, and entries open from 1st December 2024.
Entrants can see the ‘Take Part’ section on the Fringe website for more information.
