Young drivers are being given the chance to work with experts to help them stay safe on the road.
A range of emergency serves and road safety organisations will be providing sessions for younger drivers aged 17-29 in May where they will fund out more about risks and how to stay safe.
The events will entails sessions by Cheshire Police, Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service as well as IAM Roadsmart.
Official statistics show that in 2021, more than a quarter of incidents on Cheshire’s roads that led to death or serious injury involved people aged 17-25.
The aim of the event is to ensure driving stays fun, by boosting driving skills and confidence.
Cheshire’s police and crime commissioner, John Dwyer, said: “To achieve safer roads for all, it’s vital to instil good practice in young drivers so that they take these skills throughout their lives.
“If you’re a young person in Cheshire and feel like you need more confidence on the road, I encourage you to sign up for this event.”
The event takes place on Friday 20th May (9.30am-1pm) at Safety Central in Warrington.
There will be four sessions throughout the day:
Think – led by Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service
Drive – led by Cheshire Police
Survive – led by North West Ambulance Service
Practical – led by IAM RoadSmart
In addition to gaining new skills, attendees will be entered into a prize draw which will help them go even further in improving their confidence on the road.
