A Shropshire brewery has come home with a national award for its cask session dark beer.
Historic brewery Three Tuns was handed bronze in the Cask Session Dark Beer category at the SIBA National Beer Awards 2023.
SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) is recognised as the voice of British brewing – and the awards held last week at Exhibition Centre Liverpool represent the very best in the industry.
Last week’s award for ‘Stout’ is the latest in a series of accolades for the locally-brewed ale, as it also won a star at the Great Taste Awards last year.

It’s one of six ales from Three Tuns Brewery’s core collection of real ales, and is described as smooth and creamy to taste.
It’s an old-fashioned dark stout featuring a bittering finish and is a favourite across the county.
Joshua Ferris, commercial director at Three Tuns said: “I’m thrilled that after an award-winning 2022 Stout has continued to gain recognition at this year’s SIBA National Beer Awards.
“Whilst Stout has been a firm favourite with customers for a number of years, it is nonetheless a privilege to receive acknowledgements such as these and goes a long way in justifying the huge investments we have made to our processes, plant and machinery in recent years.”

The award marks the start of what the Three Tuns team hopes will be an exciting 2023, with a number of special ales being lined up over the coming months.
Nestled in the small market town of Bishop’s Castle, the 17th-century brewery holds tradition in the highest regard.
They say that’s the reason their real ales are made the traditional way and crafted with the finest ingredients to give each one its own unique flavour.
