Poynton’s former NatWest bank has become a trendy new bar and restaurant, Panache, and has undergone an incredible transformation since it was snapped up at auction in 2017 by property developers Gary McCabe and David Whitehead.
The vision for the new establishment is to offer choice – from casual drinks and bar food to all-day dining and private events.
Panache has ambitions to become Poynton’s first choice for any occasion: evening entertainment, lunches, afternoon teas, drinks with friends, birthdays and parties.
The £1.2 million transformation began 1st October 2017 and was completed 24th August 2018.
Not only has the entirety of the former building been utilised (from top to bottom, with an impressive mezzanine floor added) but extensions have been added to either side to provide an ‘outside’ experience too.
Both of the two side extensions have been fitted with a retractable roof – guests will be kept warm in the winter, whilst being able to make the most of the sunshine in the summer.

The first two visitors to take a tour of the new venue were mayor of Poynton Cllr Sarah-Jane Gilmore and former NatWest employee Rita Booth.
Rita worked at the NatWest branch in Poynton for 8 years and was the last person to lock the doors when it closed on 26th July 2016.
Panache offers a choice of three different areas: the bar area with 100 covers (including the upstairs seating), the restaurant space for evening dining, and the extension at the north of the building which can be booked for private events.
