Kate Simon, who grew up in Alsager and attended Malbank Sixth Form in Nantwich, discussed Slow Travel Cheshire by Bradt, of which she is co-author, at the Nantwich Bookshop & Coffee Lounge on Friday 22nd June 2018.
Co-author Suzanne King, who also grew up in Cheshire, was also in attendance.
The brand-new title is the latest in Bradt’s acclaimed UK regional Slow Travel series.
The guide gives holiday advice and tourist information on everything from Chester, The Wirral and Cheshire coast, the Mersey, Peak District and Lovell Telescope to canals, stately homes and gardens, walking, cycling and local food, drink, accommodation and culture.
Kate has been a writer and editor for more than 30 years.
She is a former travel editor of the Independent on Sunday and a contributor to a variety of national newspapers and magazines, including The Independent, Daily Telegraph, Guardian and Evening Standard.
Suzanne is a freelance travel writer contributing to a range of publications including Telegraph Travel, for which she reviews Cheshire’s best hotels, inns and B&Bs.
Co-authoring this guide has provided Kate and Suzanne with the perfect excuse to spend every free moment traveling round the local countryside, revisiting old haunts, discovering new ones and sampling as many of the regional cheeses, brews and ice creams as possible.
Denise Lawson from Nantwich Bookshop & Coffee Lounge said: “Thanks to Kate and Suzanne for enlightening us as to what a diverse county we live in. A most enjoyable evening was had by all.”
