The annual Pott Shrigley Rose Queen crowning ceremony is set to take place on Saturday (22nd June).
The fun-filled afternoon starts with a procession from the village school’s playground at 1.45pm, led by the 2019 Rose Queen aboard ‘Hooter’, a four-foot steam engine!
She’ll be followed by her entourage and gathered crowds to St Christopher’s Church where the Pott Shrigley Rose Queen crowning ceremony will take place.
Visitors are then welcome on the Village Green where there’ll be music from Poynton High School Brass Band, Canalside Radio, maypole dancing, BBQ, cream teas, beer tent, tombola, cake stall, wheelbarrow races, bouncy castle, steam train rides, sack races and the ever-competitive tug of war!
Entry is just £1 per person. In addition there’ll be a raffle which promises to better than ever with two chances to win a week’s stay in a holiday apartment in Turkey!
This year’s event also coincides with the inaugural Shrigley Stag Fell Race – a 10k race with a 290m ascent.
Entries in advance welcome via www.allthingsactive.co.uk or sign up on the day.
