Local children’s charity, The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT), is to hold its 17th annual Family Fun Day on Sunday 23rd September and is appealing to the local community to help once again make it a huge success.

Each year the charity puts on a fantastic, free entry event for local families and individuals and they’re hoping to make this year’s event bigger and better than ever before!

Community fundraiser Rob Bashforth is organising the event. He commented: “Last year’s Family Fun Day raised an amazing £6,000 and had over 1,200 visitors.  This year we’d like more people than ever before to enjoy this great day out!”

The charity is also appealing for sponsors to come forward to help them cover the expenses of putting on the event.

Donations of all sizes will be welcomed and acknowledged in the event programme – anything from £10 to £10,000!

Rob continued: “We hold many amazing fundraising events throughout the year, the Family Fun Day is a great opportunity for our community to come together to celebrate the work we’re doing here at the Adventure Farm.”

There’s so much going on at this year’s event – including live music, fairy princesses and fairground rides!

Nostalgic vehicles from Tameside Classic Cars and Cheshire Vintage Tractors will be on display and mascots from all over the region will be taking part in the charity’s annual mascot race.

The force will be strong on the day too, as Star Wars characters from the 99th Garrison will also be joining in the fun.

CAFT provides holidays and daytrips to terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the North West every year.

Its patrons include comedians John Bishop and Jason Manford, Cold Feet star John Thomson and 70s rock legend Noddy Holder. The charity is proud to have football legend Sir Bobby Charlton as its president.

Each year CAFT must raise £1million, and relies solely on voluntary contributions.

This year’s event will include many attractions such as face painting, balloon modelling and an array of farmyard animals and birds of prey.

There’ll be the usual collection of fun inflatables, stalls and games – and the event will be hosted by local radio DJ Mark Blackman.

The charity will also be keeping guests fed and watered with delights such as a BBQ and hog roast, homemade curries and pancakes.

There’ll also be a traditional tea room and delicious ice cream will be served by Ice Cream Dub.

Guests will also be able to view many of the charity’s facilities, and meet their alpacas, dinki donkeys, pygmy goats and sheep!

The free entry event runs from 1pm until 5pm.
