‘Smoke’ to open in Wilmslow later this year

The Cheshire Smokehouse has confirmed it is planning to launch ‘Smoke’, a contemporary cafe and wine bar, in Wilmslow town centre.

The well-established family business, located in Morley Green, just outside Wilmslow, promises that the exciting new venture will expand on their ethos of offering ‘real food’ and will continue to support other high quality local food and drink producers.

Utilising knowledge and experience gathered over 100 years, as well as four generations of curing and smoking fine foods, the new and independent cafe and bar will serve bar snacks, sharing boards and small plates along with a range of wines, beers and spirits from both local small-batch breweries and continental specialists.

Many dishes will be based around The Cheshire Smokehouse’s own products from their butchery, bakery, smokehouse and kitchen.

Many ingredients will be sourced from the same local artisan suppliers whose produce adorns the shelves in the The Cheshire Smokehouse shop.

As a long-standing resident of Wilmslow, owner Darren Ward hopes that Smoke will prove to be a hit with customers looking to enjoy a high quality drinking and eating experience in a relaxed environment.

“It’s what The Cheshire Smokehouse is all about” said Darren.

“Good food, good drink and good company. We felt this was the natural progression for us, using what we already know and produce and applying it to a different setting.

“We want to showcase our products in the best possible way and this second site is the perfect opportunity for us to do just that.”

“As a Wilmslow resident, I believe we need quality independents to bring a bit of life back into our town. There has been a few starting up recently, so I say the more the merrier!”

Work is scheduled to begin soon, with seating over 80 covers expected once completed.

The new cafe come wine bar will open all day, seven days a week – offering a versatile, seasonal menu; ranging from early morning Smokehouse bacon butties with coffee to after work snacks with drinks, or a full meal consisting of sharing boards and small plates.

Inspired by culinary ideas from around the world, the venue’s continental approach will provide the essence of the ‘Smoke experience’. The emphasis will be on a laid back style underpinned by efficient service.

There will be openings for both full and part-time staff to take up roles in the kitchen and bar areas.

Smoke plans to open its doors later in the year.
