A group of companies in Cheshire has voted to renew their business improvement district (BID) for a fifth consecutive term.
Winsford Industrial Estate BID is home to the longest-running industrial estate BID zone in the country, which has been in operation since April 2006.
Companies have now opted to support its continuation for a further five-year period, with 99% voting in favour of the proposals.
Bosses said it was one of the strongest ballot results ever recorded in the UK for such a scheme.
They added that the BID had invested more than £2m into the industrial estate over the past 20 years.
The BID has been involved with crime prevention initiatives, business support services, aesthetic and signage improvements as well as employee training schemes.
The successful ballot will mean more than £800,000 of additional investment over the next five years according to those behind the organisation.

“This outstanding 99% approval is an incredible endorsement of the BID’s work and the shared ambition of our business community,” said its chair, Phil Lomas.
“Winsford Industrial Estate has benefited from nearly two decades of consistent investment and partnership and BID 5 means we can continue driving improvements that help businesses thrive.
“We are proud of what has been achieved and excited for what the next five years will deliver.”
Cllr Nathan Pardoe, council cabinet member, said Winsford Industrial Estate was one of the most important employment sites in the region.
“The BID has played a vital role in its continued success,” he said, adding that the authority welcomed the result of the ballot.
Jane Hough, deputy director for BIDs at charity Groundwork Cheshire, Lancashire & Merseyside, said she was looking forward to continuing work on making the industrial estate in Winsford a “safe, sustainable and successful place to do business.”
