Paul Chamberlain (Labour)
I want to work hard for communities in Boughton, Newtown, Abbots Park, Garden Quarter and the city centre.
I will build links between the council’s decisions and our residents, so you can feel more involved in issues that impact you.
As a former editor of the Chester Chronicle, I’ve watched Chester change over the years, but like other residents I feel communication could be improved.
I was born here and have lived here for most of my life. I just want to do my bit to make it even better.

Max Gerrard (Conservatives)
I moved to Chester with my wife after falling in love with the city.
Chester is a fantastic place to live but it could be so much better. Our city has great potential but it hasn’t had the attention or investment it deserves.
I regularly cycle around the city and it saddens me to see that the quality of our roads and pavements has declined and our streets have become dirtier.
Local people want the council to provide basic services like bin collections and street cleaning, but despite council tax going up 40% over the last eight years we’re not getting better services.
I feel passionately about protecting our city’s history – both to preserve our heritage and support local tourism – I am campaigning for a ringfenced budget so we can maintain and protect our walls.
I know this matters to everyone here in Chester.

Katrina Kerr (Labour)
Up until recently, I was chair of the Business Improvement District in Chester. I know the city, I know the key players and I am keen to make a difference.
Chester has unbelievable potential. We can make Chester England’s most ‘liveable’ city. This is a cool place to live, work, eat, drink, shop, learn, visit and own a business.
If I am elected, I will continue to ensure that it is not only clean, green and safe, but also that it is increasingly attractive, affordable, and accessible to all who live here.

Matthew Morgan (Conservatives)
Chester is where I live and work and I’ve also run a business here, so I know how much our city means to local people.
Our iconic city walls are one of the many things local people love about Chester and it’s what brings people here, but sadly there hasn’t been enough investment over the last eight years.
I’m campaigning for a ringfenced budget to properly maintain and protect the walls and help Chester thrive.
Bringing back ‘Free After Three’ parking would also give the city a much needed boost and help bring people here to shop, visit our cafés and restaurants and explore the fantastic heritage and culture Chester has to offer.
Our city is vibrant but it needs local councillors who are focused on the issues that matter to people.
I will be a positive voice for our city and ensure it gets the investment it needs.

Chester is my home and it matters to me that it is a cleaner, greener and safer city for all who live here.
Many of you tell me that despite council tax having increased by over 40% in the last 8 years, our city could be so much better.
My priority is to be a strong and proactive campaigner on the issues that matter most to local people, like securing more resources to improve our appalling roads and pavements.
I’ll fight to ensure a ringfenced budget to properly maintain and protect our internationally significant historic city walls.
I’ll also back the government’s plan for cleaning up our vital waterways, like the River Dee, tackling plastic pollution and holding water companies properly to account for unacceptable discharges of sewage.
We all want to see top quality and safe water in our river for local people to enjoy.

Ben Walker (Labour)
As a former Roman Tour Guide, I know how important our heritage is to residents and to visitors.
I will be a powerful advocate for Chester, but more importantly I will be a voice for residents of Chester, the Garden Quarter, Liverpool Road, Abbots Park, and Newtown.
I will stand up for you on housing and planning matters, or neighbourhood pride issues like parking, fly-tipping, dog fouling, litter and graffiti.
I care about our city and your neighbourhood, and I want to make Chester the very best it can be.
So Cheshire remains proudly non-partisan and has provided the same opportunity to all parties and independent candidates.
