Students have been praised by leaders at The Catholic High School Chester for their resilience despite two of the toughest years.
There were tears of joy at the Handbridge school this morning as dozens of sixth form students opened their A Level and AS Level results.
Among them was Liam Samuels who achieved an A in biology, an A chemistry and an A* in English literature.
He will now go on to study medicine at Hull York Medical School.
He said: “It’s quite sad that this is my last excuse to be in school to be honest! I have really enjoyed my time here at sixth form.”

Lily Jenkins (pictured above) studied maths, psychology and PE – and achieved C, A and A* respectively.
She will head off to Wolverhampton University to study paramedic science.

Cecilia Doran (pictured above) got an A in English literature, a B in history and an A in religious studies.

Melissa McNaught (pictured above) studied psychology, theology and art – and she achieved C, A, A.
She said: “I’ve loved it, it was definitely the best thing coming to this Sixth Form!”
Bernadette Letissier, director of sixth form, said: “I’m really pleased for these students. They’ve had a lot to contend with over the last two years.
“I’m delighted that their resilience and hard work has been rewarded, and I’m confident that they are ready to take up their place as responsible and productive citizens.”
Headteacher Mrs McKeagney said she was humbled by the dignity of our students today and the way they are preparing for their next chapter.
She commented: “We wish them every success with their future.”
