Beep, beep! Visitors to Lichfield can take advantage of free weekend car parking at the Friary multi storey car park as Christmas shopping swings into action.
The free parking offer follows a successful first outing for the scheme last year, where footfall increased by almost a third during December.
Lichfield District Council said it hoped to welcome visitors to the city centre, where people can shop, dine and socialise while the free parking makes it easier to enjoy.
The charge-free parking dates are as follows:
- Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December
- Saturday 7th December and Sunday 8th December
- Saturday 14th December and Sunday 15th December
- Saturday 21st December and Sunday 22nd December
“We hope this will help visitors to enjoy our festive city centre,” said Cllr Richard Holland, the council’s cabinet member for high street and economic development.
“Lichfield has so much for visitors at Christmastime – great shops, restaurants, bars and heritage buildings – and we want to make it as easy as possible for people to visit.”
All other car park charges in the city remain as usual, and visitors are being encouraged to make use of public transport where possible.
