Cheshire East Council has submitted a planning application for major improvements at Congleton Leisure Centre.
The plans, which outline how the facilities could look when the work is completed, consist of a new six-lane swimming pool, new learner pool, community meeting spaces, a soft play area with access to a cafe and a state-of-the art gym with facilities over two floors.
Cllr Liz Wardlaw, deputy leader of Cheshire East Council and cabinet member for health, commented: “I’m pleased we are moving forward with our plans for Congleton’s leisure centre.
“The current facilities are not fit for purpose and I hope that people will share my excitement in the new proposals that have been submitted to planning.”
Cllr Wardlaw added: “Not only do they provide Congleton with state-of-the art facilities, they also improve the current leisure offer and include a multifunctional space where communities can come together.
“I encourage anyone with an interest in the plans for the leisure centre to come along to the drop-in sessions to find out more.”
The drop-in events are scheduled to be held at Congleton Leisure Centre on:
- Tuesday 22nd January, 6-8pm
- Thursday 24th January, 6-8pm
- Saturday 26th January, 9.30-11.30am
