Knutsford Tennis Club, passionate about improving the quality and range of tennis opportunities on offer, is to host a 24hr tennis tournament next month to help improve its facilities.
A club spokesperson said: “Now the sun has shown its face, we have lots of people dusting off their rackets and coming down to play, some for the first time.”
They added: “Even more people will be on court at the end of June, when the club has a 24-hour tennisathon, running from 4.30pm on Friday 29th June to 4.30pm on Saturday 30th June, raising funds to repair and improve our junior courts.”
From night owls to early risers, insomniacs to sleepy heads, all will be playing tennis across a 24 hour period.
Local businesses are getting behind the event too – sponsoring, offering raffle prizes and even joining in by playing tennis.
The club says everyone and anyone is welcome to participate, it doesn’t matter if you are a member or not, as long as you are between 4 and 104 you can play!
(There’s even a jumbo sumo ball tennis to try out!)
Off court, there’ll be something for the whole family to enjoy – including live music, a BBQ, afternoon tea, raffles, stalls and of course the bar will be open offering a special tennisathon beer… and we’re fairly sure you can expect oodles of strawberries and cream as well!
The club has even secured got a 24 hour Tesla test drive to be won as part of an eco-friendly virtual balloon race.
For local tennis players, there’s cardio tennis sessions and clinics that can be booked with ex-Davis Cup tennis players from Bright Ideas for Tennis, who will be at the club on Saturday afternoon.

Head down and celebrate the start of Wimbledon… no whites required, and fancy dress is positively encouraged!
And if you can’t make the tennisathon, guests are welcome to attend the ‘Pay and Play’ sessions on a Thursday evening. Just turn up at 6.30pm and have a go.
