The Macclesfield Beer Festival 2020 is to be postponed until later in the year, as numerous other events across the area are being cancelled or postponed due to the global outbreak of Covid-19 coronavirus.
The event was due to take place over the bank holiday weekend, 8th-9th May 2020.
Festival organisers posted on Facebook: “After much discussion, we have had to make the decision to postpone the beer festival until later in the year due to the risk of Coronavirus. We aren’t the first and sadly wont be the last to do this.
“Although the number of cases in Cheshire is very low, there is great uncertainty as to what measures will be put in place to battle the outbreak.”
They continued: “As a charity event raising money for a great local cause, we cannot take the risk of losing money that should be going to a charity.
“This is just a postponement and we will be working extra hard to make sure we can bring you a fantastic autumn event with all the great beers, fantastic food and live music that you would expect from Macclesfield Beer Festival!
“Don’t forget all the great local pubs serving delicious craft beer that you can still visit.
“Take care of yourselves, keep washing your hands, don’t panic buy, join us in giving coronavirus the (clean) finger!
“We will see you in the autumn!”
