The David Lewis charity welcomed Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex earlier this week.

Her Royal Highness officially reopened the charity’s school – which provides education for young people with special needs – on Thursday 3rd November.

The Countess of Wessex is one of the charity’s patrons and during her visit she took a tour around its vast site in Great Warford.

She visited the charity’s top farm development, meeting a number of donors and supporters as well as partners from local authorities and the NHS.

David Lewis is one of the largest care providers in Cheshire offering residential, clinical, educational and therapeutic support for people with learning disabilities, epilepsy, autism and other complex support needs.

Stephen Devlin, chair of David Lewis, said: “It was a great honour to welcome our patron today, HRH The Countess of Wessex. Her support for our charity is truly appreciated.

“I want to thank each person who made today possible, David Lewis is truly a life-changing place and our team do an incredible job supporting individuals everyday.”

As well as providing education for young people at its college and school near Alderley Edge, David Lewis provides residential services throughout Cheshire.

The charity also provides a range of day opportunities – including an accessible farm, dog grooming parlour, shop, cafe, arts crafts and other sensory based services.

These offer people an experience of working in a retail environment, and provide social hubs.

John Heritage, chief executive of David Lewis, said: “It has been a huge privilege for me to have the opportunity to welcome Her Royal Highness to our charity and to have the opportunity for so many of our team, the people we support and our partners to meet our patron and show her some of the developments at the charity since her last visit.

“It has been a truly fantastic day for the charity and we really appreciate Her Royal Highness’ continued support for what we do.”
