Quarrybank Boutique, a bathroom showroom based in the heart of Wilmslow, is gaining more and more recognition – not only from the Cheshire community but also from industry professionals.
Now, the unique establishment on Grove Street is heading to the ‘bathroom Oscars’.
Having opened just seven months ago, the showroom has recently been selected for the finals of the most prestigious bathroom awards in the industry – the KBB Awards – in the “New Bathroom Retailer of the Year” category.
This national recognition puts Quarrybank Boutique into the top four bathroom showrooms across the entire country.
The success of this family run business started simply with an audacious dream.
Director and co-founder Steven Hume, born and bred in Wilmslow, dreamt of owning a bathroom shop on the high street since he was in college.
Years later, through his plumbing and heating experience, he and his wife Koralia, set their hearts on serving the local community and established Quarrybank Plumbers Ltd in 2019 as a plumbing, heating and bathroom installation company.
The firm soon became a leader in its field, and they embarked on a journey towards expanding their services for customers, which is how the idea for Quarrybank Boutique was born.
With a perfect spot secured in the middle of the busiest street in Wilmslow, their aim was to create a special place, different from the rest of the market – unique, even extravagant.
Combining the care and services of a boutique-style shop with bathroom products seemed like a difficult challenge, but it was a challenge that became their mission.
Director and co-founder Koralia Hume said: “From the very beginning, we were clear on our vision to create an experience for our customers where they felt special and inspired.
“We dedicated a lot of effort in selecting the designs and injecting colour into our interior.”
Everything in the showroom is carefully thought through to create a story behind the company’s values – for example, a recent trend they promote of introducing art into bathroom spaces.
The showroom recently became a small gallery, with nature-inspired canvases and lamp shades by a Cumbrian artist Lily Greenwood.
The shop offers a full 3D bathroom design service as well as bathroom supplies, accessories and tiles.
Steven Hume said: “We work with selected suppliers to ensure that only top quality products with attractive designs are presented to our customers.
“Given that the showroom also offers full fit out of the bathrooms, and project management, we want to ensure that what we install is of the highest quality”.
Quarrybank Boutique is certainly worth a visit.
The shop draws you in with its unique window display, jazz music playing in the background, the scent of candles and a glass of fizz served while you browse.
The results of the KBB Awards will be announced on 20th April during a black tie event in Cardiff.
