MP Mike Amesbury was a guest of Northwich’s Indian community on Saturday (10th Nov) for a celebration of Diwali.
The Weaver Vale MP and his family attended the event, organised by Northwich Diwali Group, at Kingsmead Primary School.
Mr Amesbury lit the traditional Diwali lamp and also said a few words to officially mark Diwali in Northwich.
Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights. It symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness.
Mike said: “It was an honour and a privilege to be invited to speak at this fantastic event, I know my wife and son thoroughly enjoyed themselves too.
“Northwich has a proud Indian community that contribute a lot to the town, and it was great to see the event so well attended.”
