Blimey! Just when we thought all the drama of the last few days had pretty much calmed down…!
Of course, you’d be forgiven for thinking the story of Jackie Weaver and Handforth Parish Council had more or less run its course by now.
Jackie’s appeared in viral memes, spoken on BBC Woman’s Hour, been interviewed on breakfast tele by Piers Morgan – and has even found herself invited to meet (virtually, obvs!) with Anton Du Beke of Strictly fame!
But all of this is merely the preamble for the best part of all!
Brace yourselves – because, honestly, this is about as epic as it gets when covering parish council news stories.
Today, Monday 8th February 2021, Jackie Weaver became the star of a two-minute musical number written and performed by none other than Andrew Lloyd Webber (yes, you read that correctly!)
The musical impresario – famous across the globe for his incredible compositions in musicals such as Phantom of the Opera; Cats; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat; Evita; Jesus Christ Superstar and countless more – posted the piece on Facebook to honour Mrs Weaver in a fabulous nod to her viral internet stardom.
Using video conferencing technology (how very 2021!) the music maestro can be seen playing piano whilst his lyrics are belted out by actress and singer-songwriter Carrie Hope Fletcher.
With the caption “a song for Jackie Weaver, we all love you” the piece has been viewed more than 50,000 times in the few hours since it was posted.
Its lyrics include brilliant lines such as “when you’re stuck in a tunnel and you can’t find your way out, thank the lord there’s a Jackie Weaver about,” and “Jackie is our saviour, she’ll know what to do – in the nick of time she’ll rescue you.”
Quite frankly, we’re a little bit misty eyed now.
