A 5-year-old school girl from Haslington has been chosen as the winner of Crewe and Nantwich MP Kieran Mullan’s Christmas card design competition.
Jasmine Nugent attends the Dingle Primary School in Haslington and sent in a painting of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer as her design.
Three runner up designs will also feature on the inside of the MP’s cards this year.
The runners-up were:
- Mesha Lea, Aged 12, from Sir William Stanier School
- Xanthe Lewis, Aged 10, from Bridgemere C Of E Primary School
- Riley Houston, Aged 11, from Wistaston Academy Primary School
MP Dr Kieran Mullan said: “All the designs were fantastic but Jasmine’s Rudolph captured a lot of people’s imagination! We had more than 1,000 votes in total on Facebook and on the website.
“Well done to our winner and runners up and to everyone that entered.
“Christmas is difficult this year, so it is great to have the whole community getting into the Christmas spirit and giving local schoolchildren a chance to see their designs being sent to the Prime Minister and others as their MP’s official card.”
On hearing the good news, Jasmine’s mum Andrea said: “Thank you for all of the votes Jasmine’s card received. All the cards were fantastic.
“Art and especially painting has helped her so much through some difficult situations lockdown has imposed.
“This is a wonderful boost and she is very happy and excited. Mummy and Daddy are exceptionally proud of her.”
As well as being used as the design for the card, an additional 250 cards are being made available to the public to raise donations for CVS Cheshire East Christmas Toy Appeal 2020 which benefits a number of charities in the Crewe and Nantwich constituency.
